Rikki moved from Seattle, WA to Nampa, ID in 2017 to start her academic career in wildlife biology at Northwest Nazarene University. During her time there she worked as the Head Animal TA caring for 25+ species of amphibians and reptiles housed on campus. She had the opportunity to conduct research in Costa Rica recording frog vocalizations in the rainforest and analyzing them back in the lab. Another summer of research consisted of isolating and sequencing frog DNA of an unidentified species.
As personal pets, Rikki has an endearing orange cat named Cricket who is leash trained and enjoys going on hikes. She also has an axolotl (aquatic salamander) named Wendell Berry who she loves to teach about to anyone who will listen! Degree complete, Rikki is excited to expand her knowledge as a Technician Assistant and looks forward to the many opportunities of the future
